Book Donations

Donate Your books in One Easy Step! Give them a new life and support your library...

When you donate your books to the Georgetown Public Library, they get a whole new life and you get a receipt for your taxes.

Life Cycle of the Books You Donate

Step 1: Bring your books, CD music albums, or audio books to the library and drop them off at the front desk as a donation. (Ask for a receipt if you'd like to have one for tax purposes.) If you have two or more boxes of books, you can call Rosie Rocke at 512.869.0112 and she will arrange to pick up the books. Now you can relax and we'll do the rest.

Step 2: Library staff and volunteers go through all the donations. The library takes any books that they would like to add to their collection. The remaining books are sorted and sent to the Second-Hand Prose Bookstore.

Step 3: Unsold books at SHP are removed from inventory on a regular basis and donated to organizations such as the Veterans Hospitals or Books Without Borders.
