Gale® Texas Legal Forms is a database which offers an easy-to-use, step-by-step approach to addressing basic legal matters.

The forms used have been developed by the firm U.S. Legal Forms, Inc. (USLF), the nation’s leading legal form publisher. The forms are “attorney forms” that is, they have been developed by attorneys and are used by law firms.

There are thousands of legal forms and correspondence available and more are added all the time. The user has access to documents that cover hundreds of legal subjects and issues, including personal, business, litigation, state and federal forms. The topics cover a wide range, including adoption, divorce, real estate, leases, corporations, employment, wills, power of attorney designation, property sales, loans and financing. The Federal forms include business and litigation forms used in the Federal system, as well as, IRS tax forms.

All you have to locate the form that’s needed is enter either the category or title using the search box or click on any of the category links found on the home page and download the specific form. There are multiple formats available. At a minimum, every form will be available in either Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat. Many forms are available in both formats, and some are available in WordPerfect and Text formats as well.

Most of the forms are fillable Word documents. Form fields in the Word documents are fields or blanks that can be completed by using tabs to select the field to be completed. Most forms that contain form fields are also locked, which means that the form cannot be modified – only completed. This feature is commonly used in official forms and other forms that should not be modified by the user. Once you’ve entered all relevant information on the document, you can then print it, save it to your computer’s hard drive, or email it to yourself.

Although most of the PDF forms are fillable, there are some selected PDF forms that are not fillable. Most of these forms are forms that are better printed and completed by hand. Regardless of the format used, complete privacy is assured.

If your search fails, try the search helps. You’ll find the link to Search Helps on the left hand side of the main page just above the box entitled Most Popular.

To further assist you in understanding the documents and aid you in completing them correctly, there are samples of the actual documents filed in Texas courts. Most every form is also preceded by a description of the form and its purpose and use.

Many of the categories contain checklists to help you identify and organize your issues. These checklists can be particularly helpful in the event that you choose to meet with an attorney. Such advance preparation may help reduce your legal fees.

In addition to the legal forms, there are dozens and dozens of letters that address all manner of legal matters. For instance, if you’ve spotted an inaccuracy in your credit report, there’s a letter that provides you with a template of a letter (including the proper citation) requesting the correction to your records.

In the event that you cannot find a form or letter that you need you may contact U.S. Legal Forms at libsupport@uslegalforms.com .

The Legal Forms database contains two additional components worth noting. First, there is a comprehensive dictionary of legal terms and definitions. And finally, there is an Attorney Directory that provides a listing of Texas attorneys who have agreed to offer their services at competitive rates.

Don’t forget, the simplest way to access these databases is to go directly to the catalog homepage at https://georgetown.biblionix.com/atoz/catalog/  , then sign on to your library account using the number on the back of your library card and the phone number that is on your library account. Once you’ve opened your account, just minimize that screen so that you can again view the catalog homepage and scroll to the bottom of the page where you’ll find the icons for the remote access databases. If you’re using your own computer don’t forget to save your password and ID so that next time you won’t have to dig out that library card.
