WOW: We need your help with the WOW! Bookmobile fund raising. If you have only a few hours to offer, it can be a big help. We need office help with Excel data entry, reports, mail merge. If you want to help with a booth and talk with people about the bookmobile project, there are some immediate opportunities to work shifts at:

Red Poppy Festival, April 16 and 17
Children's Book Day and Picture Circus on April 30

e-mail susanbiggs@ecpi.com or call (512) 869-6612

Second-Hand Prose:  Workers are always needed for three-hour shifts. Volunteers sell the books, keep the shelves alphabetized, and sometimes shelve new titles.

Permanent shifts or substitute positions are available.

FUND RAISING:  Volunteers needed to serve on the Fund Raising Committee and for special projects like the Hill Country Authors Series, Book-a-Day Calendar Sales, or Fish City Grill’s First Tuesday program.

PUBLICITY:  Committee members needed.  Duties include writing copy, sending announcements, making copies, distributing fliers and using the paper cutter.

Art/Design: Create promotional materials for FOL events. Computer experience needed.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION PARTY

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY volunteers filled the Friends room in high spirits as they celebrated another successful year of goals met and friends made.

106 volunteers donated at least the 25 hours necessary to have a book dedicated in the CHILDREN'S LIBRARY in honor of their service with their name on a bookplate. HOORAY!

The total hours our volunteers spent of various projects ranging from working in SECOND HAND PROSE to gift wrapping calendars was an impressive 5,538. GREAT JOB!

Eric Lashley, Library director, gave a speech expressing his gratitude for all the support this organization takes on for the benefit of the citizens of Georgetown and applauded the efforts of the FRIENDS.

There were DOOR PRIZES galore and everybody had their fill of dessert and beverages topped off with decadent chocolates.

This event celebrated the results of the year 2010 and most of the volunteers are up and running with many hours invested in the 2011 projects.

The hostesses for this event were Dolores Calafati, Geri Tease, Diane Habas, Susan Biggs and Beverly Sautter

If you are not already a volunteer but would like to be, sign up in Second Hand Prose or call Beverly Sautter 240 4012 to attend an orientation class and get started. We would love to have you and we will find something interesting for you to do. We are waiting for you.
