With the successful WOW! Bookmobile kick-off event behind them, Friends of the Georgetown Public Library are gearing up to raise $150,000 for the vehicle, furnishings and books. "Words on Wheels" will reach underserved library patrons such as the elderly and kids who have limited transportation to the downtown library. HELP WANTED

We need your help with the WOW! Bookmobile fund raising. If you have only a few hours to offer, it can be a big help. We need office help with Excel data entry, reports, mail merge. If you want to help with a booth and talk with people about the bookmobile project, there are some immediate opportunities to work shifts at:

Children's Book Day and Picture Circus on April 30

03/30/11  Friends of the Library prepare to WOW Georgetown!

The future bookmobile for the Georgetown Public Library has been named "Words on Wheels" and the WOW fund raising campaign kicks off at the library on April 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Mayor Garver, the Friends of the Library Board, and others will be available to provide information and explain why and how the decision was made to purchase the bookmobile. Plus, the Jitterbug Vipers are back to help us promote Words on Wheels. Come on down to the library to listen to music from the 1930s and '40s. The Jitterbug Vipers take their name from jitterbug, another name for the Lindy Hop or swing dancing, and viper, which is a special kind of swing music.
